The handwoven copper chakoshi or tea strainer follows in the tradition of wire weaving, kyo-kanāmi, in the Kyōto region. Created under the guidance of Tsuji-sama of the venerable studio, Tsuji wa Kanāmi creates kitchen utensils for some of Japan's most famous restaurants. The woven patterns on the strainer are called kiku-dashi or chrysanthemum and kikko-ami or tortoiseshell.

The piece can be used as a strainer or infuser for tea depending on the method of tea preparation. It can even be used to sieve matcha.

As the strainer is made from copper it develops a beautiful natural patina with daily use.
